Sayer
Privacy Policy
Effective date: 28 June 2026 · Last updated: 28 June 2026
Sayer (“Sayer”, “we”, “us”, or
“our”) is an anonymous, audio-first peer-support app. This
Privacy Policy explains what information the Sayer mobile app
(package/bundle ID voice.mrsah.sayer) collects, how we use it,
and the choices and rights you have.
Sayer is private by design. You do not create an account with your name, email, or phone number. We do not run ads, and we do not use third-party analytics or tracking SDKs.
A note before you read on. Sayer is peer support — it is not therapy, counseling, or a crisis service, and it is not a substitute for professional care. If you are in crisis or may be in danger, contact your local emergency number or a crisis line in your area right away.
1. Who we are (data controller)
The party responsible for your information is:
Provider: Sayer
Contact email: contact@nepapptech.com
Address: Nepal,Kathmandu
If you have any questions about this policy or your data, email us at the address above.
2. Anonymous by design — no real-world identity
When you first open Sayer, the app creates an anonymous identity for you. We do not ask for or collect your name, email address, phone number, or social logins. We hold nothing that, on its own, maps back to the real you.
To let you recover your anonymous identity if you reinstall the app or switch devices, Sayer uses a recovery passphrase:
- The passphrase is something you keep. We store only a hashed form of it, used to verify recovery — we cannot see or recover the passphrase itself.
- On your device, your anonymous identity token and the passphrase hash are kept in the operating system's secure storage (iOS Keychain / Android Keystore-backed storage).
If you lose your recovery passphrase, we may be unable to restore access to your anonymous identity.
3. Information we collect
a) Content you choose to share
- Voice recordings (audio). When you record and post a voice note, the audio is uploaded to our servers so others in the relevant room can listen. Optional noise reduction removes background hiss/hum but keeps your real voice unaltered.
- Replies and text content. Comment-only, “kindness-only” replies you post, and any text associated with your content (e.g., captions/transcripts where applicable), are stored on our servers so they can be shown to others.
- Room/topic and language. The room you post to and the language tag of your content, so the right people can find and understand it.
Voice notes and replies are shared content — they are intended to be heard or read by other users. Please avoid including personal details that could identify you or someone else.
b) Technical information needed to run the service
- Anonymous identity token. A token tied to your anonymous identity, sent with requests so the server knows your content is yours (without knowing who you are).
- Push notification token (optional). If you enable notifications, we register your device's Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) token with our servers so we can notify you when someone replies to your voice. You can turn notifications off at any time in your device settings; if you do, we stop using the token for that purpose.
- Basic delivery data. Information your device necessarily sends to connect to our servers (such as IP address and platform/OS type) is processed to deliver the service and maintain security. We do not use it to build a profile of you or to track you across other apps or websites.
c) Moderation and safety signals
To keep Sayer kind and safe, we process reports you submit and content that is reported, and we record which content has been blocked or removed, so we can review violations, remove content, and bar abusive users.
What we do not collect
We do not collect your name, email, phone number, contacts, precise or background location, health records, financial information, or browsing history, and we do not use advertising identifiers or third-party tracking.
4. Information stored only on your device
Some data never leaves your phone:
- Private journal recordings. Voice notes you save to your private journal are stored locally only and are never uploaded to our servers.
- App settings & preferences (theme, captions, noise reduction, low-data mode, “one voice a day”, preferred language).
- On-device sets such as which voices you've “heard” or blocked, and your onboarding/notification-permission state.
This on-device data is removed when you delete the app or use “Delete everything” (see Section 8).
5. Device permissions
- Microphone. Used only when you choose to record a voice note. We do not access the microphone in the background or at any other time.
- Notifications. Optional. Used to let you know when someone replies to your voice. You can grant or revoke this at any time in your device settings.
6. How we use information
We use the information above to:
- Provide the core service — let you record, post, listen to, and reply to voice notes anonymously;
- Deliver reply notifications you've opted into;
- Keep the community safe — review reports, remove violating content, and block abusive users;
- Maintain, secure, and troubleshoot the service, and prevent abuse or misuse;
- Comply with legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your content or data for advertising or cross-app/website tracking.
7. How information is shared
- With other users. Voice notes and replies you post are shared content, visible/audible to other Sayer users in the relevant room. Your content is not attached to your real-world identity.
- Service providers (processors). We use Google Firebase Cloud Messaging solely to deliver push notifications to your device. Firebase acts as a processor for message delivery; see Google's privacy policy at firebase.google.com/support/privacy. We host content on Hostinger to operate the service.
- Legal and safety. We may disclose information if required by law, or where we believe in good faith it is necessary to comply with a legal obligation, enforce our terms, or protect the rights, safety, or property of users or the public.
We do not share your information with advertisers or data brokers.
8. Your choices, deletion, and data rights
- Delete everything. In Settings → Delete everything, you can hard-delete your audio and content from our servers and wipe your anonymous identity and all on-device data. This is irreversible.
- Turn off notifications anytime in your device settings.
- Stop sharing by simply not posting; private journal entries stay on your device.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict the processing of your personal data, or to object or request portability (e.g., under the EU/UK GDPR or the CCPA/CPRA). Because Sayer is anonymous, we may have no information that identifies you personally, and we may be unable to associate a request with a particular person without additional information. To exercise any right, email contact@nepapptech.com. We do not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
Data in transit is protected with encryption (HTTPS/TLS).
9. Data retention
- Voice notes and replies are retained until you delete them, you use “Delete everything”, or they are removed through moderation.
- Push tokens are retained while notifications are enabled and removed/replaced when they expire, you disable notifications, or you delete your data.
- We may retain limited information longer where necessary to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, or enforce our agreements and safety policies.
10. Children's privacy
Sayer is intended for adults and is rated 17+ / Mature. It is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age required in your jurisdiction (e.g., under 13 in the U.S., or the applicable age under GDPR). If you believe a child has provided information to us, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to remove it.
11. International users
We may process and store information on servers located in Hostinger Hosting. If you use Sayer from another country, you understand your information may be transferred to and processed in locations with different data-protection laws. Where required, we put appropriate safeguards in place for international transfers.
12. Security
We use technical and organizational measures designed to protect your information, including encryption in transit and OS-backed secure storage for your anonymous credentials on-device. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice in the app. Your continued use of Sayer after an update means you accept the revised policy.
